Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico and straddles the Rio Grande River. The city is known as one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, and currently has a metropolitan population of 853,775. This city is not just a hub for master-planned communities and the Kirkland Air Force Base. Albuquerque also has plenty of options in the arts and sports.

The epiphany of art during the year in Albuquerque is the New Mexico State Fair. For 17 days in September the city celebrates art at the Expo New Mexico. If arts are not your scene, then this city still has plenty of cultural gems. There are a variety of museums, like the Albuquerque Biological Park and Old Town Albuquerque.

Sports wise, the major draw for most sports is the competition at the University of New Mexico. The Division I college plays in the Mountain West mid-major conference. For professional sports, Albuquerque has the big four sports in minor league form. The Isotopes are a Triple A baseball team, the Thunderbirds are part of the NBA D0League, the New Mexico Scorpions are a AA Minor League Ice Hockey team and the New Mexico Wildcats are an arena football team.
