Alkistis Protopsalti is renowned singer from Alexandria, Egypt. She was born on 18th of October. She started exploring her interest of singing at the age of 18. She appeared in " In the period of "Aposperida" and "Lydra" in Athen in 1975-76. She performed with great Greek singers like N.Xylouris and M.Koch. In 1976, Alkestis worked with Ilias Andriopoulos for the first time which resulted into "Kyklos Seferi". Same year she participated in the Bost-Moursela play "Efimerevoume" at the Smaroula Theatre. Her first personal LP "Apla tragoudia" came out in 1977.
In 1978, this talented artist worked with Antonis Kalogiannis in the music hall "Epifania", and she appears with Antonis Kalogiannis and Grigoris Bithikotsis on Lycabetus. Three LPs were released by her in period 1981-83 named "Alkestis Protopsalti", "Fragma", "Telos den echei to tragoudi". Alkestis is a very courageous and restless woman. She produced the "hottest" scene in Athens, transforming a dead area into the happening center of musical live performances. This job was done with the support of Andreas Voutsinas, Lina Nikolakopoulou, Stamatis Kraounakis, and Ilias Marosoulis. One of their wonderful creation "Antropon Erga" was performed all over Greece, and abroad.

 In 1995, She took part in two records by Stamatis Kraounakis entitled as "Otan erchontai oi filoi mou" and "To Trito Stefani". She headlined the musical performance "Ta paidia tis Peiraios" in 1995, directed by Andreas Voutsinas. She performed "Rodon Live is Alkistis" in 1997 which proved an incredible performance. In September 1997 her long-awaited new LP "San Ifestio" was released nad became one of her platinum hit just in three months time. Alkestis gave one of the best performances of her life at the Municipal Theater of Peiraeus in February 1998, in Thessaloniki in May 1998 at Radio City. Her dance movements were directed by Dimitris Papaioannou, costumes and the scenery selected by Lily Pezanou, Songs were chosen by Lina Nikolakopoulou, and Nikos Antypas became in charge of their orchestration.
One of the outstanding and unforgettable concerts was given at London's Cambridge Theater. The song "Dithessio" was included in this striking show which became a smash hit across Greece. She delineated Greece with "Dithessio" in the 1998 edition of OGAE Song Contest and won the 2nd place. She also took part in a Tribute album to Dionysis Savvopoulos with an incredible "Mystiko Topio".
Currently, Alkestis performs on tours to Usa and Canada and rock the music industry and her huge audiences with her magical voice. On coming Nov, Protopsalti will be accompanied by Christina Argyri and George Karadimos at Woolsey Hall, College and Grove sts.
