Broadway often gets a bad rap. It is known for its penchant for the big Broadway musical with far more elaborate set designs, costumes, light designs, and musicals than the actual plot. Perhaps that is why biopic jukebox musicals and Wicked are so revered and have such staying power, because they either rely on some sort of inherently dramatic story (a biopic) or are inspired by a concerted effort to reframe an old story (Wicked). But every once in a while the New York theater scene redeems itself outside of the musical genre by embracing a touching story (especially if it is from the UK) and that 2011 British import is War Horse.

While Britney and Lil Wayne deflect ominous tour rumors, it appears Nicki Minaj is benefiting with each bit of bad news. It began when Britney Spears announced a world tour to accompany the release of her new album Femme Fatale and continues as Lil Wayne’s PR denounce news that he will have to cancel his European tour because it turns out the UK does not look favorably on those who have served prison time for gun convictions.

As the 2011 MLB season kicks off I am still flummoxed by just how the perennial powerhouses have fallen, the New York Yankees. This is not to say that this fan base is going to have to endure losing seasons. Rather, it is how the baseball franchises that could once be counted on to take first place in their AL East each season (even when they were not winning World Series) have serious concerns.
