Budweiser Shoot Out Tickets
Each year, the Daytona Budweiser Shootout is NASCAR's season-opening event, and part of a multi-year sponsorship deal between Budweiser and Daytona International Speedway. The 2009 Shootout ended in exciting fashion when Kevin Harvick navigated a last-lap pass, reminiscent of a similar move on Mark Martin in the 2007 Daytona 500. In 2009 however, it was Jamie McMurray being passed in Turn 3 for the victory as an accident took place behind Harvick – again, very similar to Harvick's 2007 Daytona 500 final lap win. Since the race's inception in 1979, the Daytona Budweiser Shootout has become one of the most anticipated events on the racing calendar for both drivers and fans; marking the beginning of a new NASCAR season, while setting early standards and expectations for teams and fans alike, as they look ahead to the Daytona 500. Originally launched in 1979 as the Busch Clash, the title was first changed to the Bud Shootout in 1998, before switching to the Budweiser Shootout in 2001. In addition to the name, the qualifying rules have also changed over the years; from 1979 through 1994, and again in 1997, the Shootout field was comprised of pole-winners plus one second-round qualifier. In 1995 and 1996, the winner of the most poles in the NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division was added, and from 1998 until 2000, the race consisted of the pole winners and the winner of a qualifying race among all second-round pole winners. From 2001 to today, the Budweiser Shootout consists of all pole winners and previous Shootout champions.

Budweiser Shoot Out History
|
The list of repeating Daytona Shootout champions includes such respected names as Dale Earnhardt with six, followed by Dale Jarrett and Tony Stewart with three, and Neil Bonnett, Ken Schrader, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. with two victories apiece. In fact, the 1998 race won by Bill Elliott stands as the fastest sanctioned race in the history of NASCAR, with an average speed of 197.802 mph! The winner of the Budweiser Shootout has gone on to win the Daytona 500 five times the following weekend – Bobby Allison in 1982, Bill Elliott in 1987, Dale Jarrett in 1996 and 2000, and Jeff Gordon in 1997. Attending the next Budweiser Shootout in Daytona, Florida on February 6, 2010 will not only give you the very first peek at this season's team and driver lineups, but you will be doing so at NASCAR's most historic track, Daytona International Speedway.
