Pepsi 500 Tickets The Pepsi 500 is the second of two Sprint Cup Series races held at the Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway) in Fontana, California, and as of 2009, the race is run in October as the fourth race of in NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup. Originally added in 2004, as part of the NASCAR realignment at that time, quite a few race fans did not initially embrace its introduction, since from its inception until 2008 the Pepsi 500 was run on Labor Day weekend – traditionally the date of the Southern 500 at Darlington. The Pepsi 500 name was first used for the race in August 2008, with Pepsi taking over the title sponsorship from Sharp. As part of the most recent round of realignments in NASCAR, Auto Club Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, and Atlanta Motor Speedway, agreed to switch dates. The Atlanta race moved from its traditional fall date to Labor Day weekend, thus returning the holiday weekend race to the southern United States, giving California its first late season race since the final Winston Western 500 at Riverside International Raceway in 1987. Finally, the AMP Energy 500 at Talladega took over the vacated Atlanta race date, and the Pepsi 500 moved into Talladega's former October spot on the calendar.

 In the short history of the Pepsi 500, there have been a few notable accomplishments. Since the inaugural race in 2004, Jimmie Johnson has won three of the six Pepsi 500 races run, with consecutive victories in 2007-09. Prior to that, the 2005 race was made famous when Kyle Busch took the checkered flag, thus becoming the youngest winner in the history of the Sprint Cup Series (known at the time as the NEXTEL Cup Series). The California 500 at California Speedway is now the Pepsi 500 at the Auto Club Speedway, but the excitement that comes with being the fourth stage of The Chase will not change a bit.
