Pepsi Max 400 Tickets In January 2010, NASCAR not only announced that the Pepsi 500 would be shortened by one hundred miles, but also that the race would be renamed the Pepsi Max 400. This revamped race is the second of two Sprint Cup Series races held at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California – the other being the Auto Club 500 in February – and as of 2009 the race is run in October as the fourth race in NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup. Originally added to the mix in 2004, as part of a NASCAR realignment at that time, initially many race fans did not welcome its introduction, since from its debut until 2008 the race was run on Labor Day weekend, traditionally the date of the Southern 500 at Darlington. The Pepsi 500 name was first used for the race in August 2008, with Pepsi taking over the title sponsorship from Sharp. Outlined as part of the most recent batch of NASCAR's realignments, Auto Club Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, and Atlanta Motor Speedway, agreed to switch dates; the Atlanta race moved from its traditional fall date to Labor Day weekend, thus returning the holiday weekend race to the southern states region, and providing California with its first late-season race since the final Winston Western 500 in 1987, at Riverside International Raceway. Finally, the AMP Energy 500 at Talladega stepped into the vacated Atlanta race date, while the Pepsi Max 400 moved into Talladega's former October spot on the schedule.

 Even given its short six-race history, there have been a few notable Pepsi Max 400 achievements; since the inaugural race in 2004, Jimmie Johnson has won three of the six Pepsi Max 400 races run, with consecutive victories in 2007-09. A couple of years earlier, the 2005 race was made famous as Kyle Busch took the victory, making him the youngest winner in the history of the Sprint Cup Series, at 20 years, 125 days old – a mark that has been surpassed, coincidentally, by Busch's teammate Joey Logano since then. Now known as the Pepsi Max 400, the name may be changed but the excitement that comes with being the fourth race in The Chase will not change at all.
