Currently number three of the ten races which make up The Chase for the Sprint Cup, beginning with the 2009 race, the event gained a new sponsor and name; now sponsored by the Kansas City-based supermarket chain, Associated Wholesale Grocers through its Price Chopper brand of stores, the race is now called the Price Chopper 400 Presented by Kraft Foods. Given that this race has only been around since its 2001 debut, there may not be as much history here as at other tracks, yet it is being written with each and every running of the Price Chopper 400 race each year. To date, two of the most noteworthy accomplishments are that Jeff Gordon is the only driver to have won the Price Chopper 400 more than once and consecutively, with wins in 2001 and 2002 – the first two years the race was run, while Tony Stewart has also won twice, although his wins are separated by a couple of seasons, with victories in 2006 and 2009.
