Shelby American Classic Tickets Previously known as the Shelby 427, the Shelby American Classic is an annual Sprint Cup Series race hosted at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada. The inaugural running of this NASCAR event was in 1998, and won by Mark Martin. In January 2010, to honor Carroll Shelby, Inc., the race name was changed to the Shelby American Classic. For several years, the race was sponsored by the United Auto Workers and DaimlerChrysler, while always having been a 400-mile race from its inception up until 2008. It was in 2008, with the buyout of Chrysler from Daimler-Benz by Cerberus Capital Management, which brought about a name change to the UAW-Dodge 400 for that one year. After 2008, Las Vegas Motor Speedway not only announced that it was receiving sponsorship from Carroll Shelby International for 2009, but that the race would be extended by 27 miles and taking on the name of one of Shelby's most famous autos, the 427 Cobra, as terms of the sponsorship deal. The Shelby American Classic race is unique for its presentation of a championship belt to the winner instead of a trophy, thus staying with Las Vegas' image as the Fight Capital of the World. In its twelve race history, there has been only one 3-time winner and a pair of 2-time winners, with all three drivers getting their victories in consecutive years; Jimmie Johnson (2005-07), Matt Kenseth (2003-04), and Jeff Burton (1999, 2000).

 After the 2006 race, plans were announced to reconfigure the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, primarily through the addition of progressive banking; increasing the degree of banking the further up the track the car goes, thus also increasing the excitement with more side-by-side racing. The speedway also added a fan area called The Neon Garage, which provides live entertainment, unprecedented access to drivers and teams, and serves as home to the Winner's Circle. Other changes included the relocation of pit road 275 feet closer to the grandstands, the addition of a new media center, and a quarter-mile Legends Cars oval inside the main tri-oval area. For NASCAR fans, drivers, and teams alike, the Shelby American Classic at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is one of the most exciting stops on the Sprint Cup Series race schedule.
