Bellvue Information: Tickets, Venues, Events and More

The unincorporated town and the US Post Office in Larimer County of Colorado, ‘Bellvue’ is a small agricultural community. This city is located in the Pleasant Valley at a narrow valley in the northwest of Fort Collins near the Poudre Canyon between Dakota Hogback ridge and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

This city is famous as a lush area on the south side of the Cache la Poudre River at the mouth of Rist Canyon. It is concealed from the open Colorado Piedmont near Fort Collins and LaPorte by the Bellvue Dome known as Goat Hill. This valley was formerly stretched southward between the hogback and foothills into the area now inundated by Horsetooth Reservoir. This major agricultural hub in this valley is good for cultivation of hay and other crops besides cattle and horse ranches. The Colorado Division of Wildlife maintains a large trout hatchery in the valley in the south of Bellvue town site.

Antoine Janis was the first white settler in northern Colorado in 1858. Samuel Bingham was another early settler here who settled on the west slope of Bingham Hill in 1860. Abner Loomis settled on a ranch in the valley in 1862. Benjamin T. Whedbee, Perry J. Bosworth, C.W. Harrington and Louis Blackstock were other early settlers shifting in 1860. Jacob Flowers arrived here in 1873 to set up a homestead on a parcel of land he purchased from Joseph Mason.

The Bellvue Post Office was opened on June 24, 1884. The post office building served as the local general store and post office up through the middle of the 20th century until it became the meeting house of the local chapter of the Grange that was a designation for which it is now commonly known. This building serves as a local meeting house and senior center until 2005. The region is in the verge of progress and welcomes changes in its set up through every innovative means.
