Billy Currington is a country singer who grew up in Rincon, Georgia and became famous in 2003 with single "Walk a Little Straighter." Since his first single and his album, Billy Currington tickets have sold well to country audiences throughout the United States and Canada. His most recent exploits include accolades for his single "People are Crazy." The song won the 2010 Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year from the Academy of Country Music.

Currington was born on November 19, 1973 and grew up and has continued to live in the South, first growing up in Georgia and then moving to Nashville after his music career began to take off. That music career became a serious passion after he failed to win a job at Opryland, the country music theme park. Instead of leaving Nashville, he stuck around and worked for years to break into the music industry.

All the work he had done on the side, as a concrete company employee and personal trainer, finally paid off when one of his personal fitness clients insisted he cut a demo tape. The tape earned Billy Currington a spot with Mercury Records Nashville in 2001.

Two years later his self-titled debut album hit the shelves. Both singles from Billy Currington peaked in the top ten on the U.S. Country charts and his album peaked at number 17 on the U.S. Country album chart from Billboard. Though it did not end up certified anything, it was a great start.
