Black Veil Brides is the metalcore band originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. They have sold Black Veil Brides tickets with the lineup of Andy Six (the founder and only remaining original band member) as the lead singer, Jake Pitts as the lead guitarist, Jinxx as the rhythm guitarist and occasionally on violin, Ashley Purdy as the bassist and backup singer, and Sandra Alvarenga as the drummer.
Andy Six founded the band in Cincinnati, finding inspiration for the name from Roman Catholic Church. Specifically, being heavily influenced by the coronation of the nun, a ceremony in which she wears a black veil as a symbol of her giving herself over to the lord and withdrawing from all earthly pleasures. Thus Black Veil Bride came to be, a metalcore group utilizing dark undertones taken from religion in most definite secular way.
Black Veil Brides' beginnings were tumultuous with an ever-changing band lineup. They still recorded two EP through California DGK Studios– Sex & Hollywood in 2007 and Never Give In in 2008. These EPs gave them the exposure necessary to draw over 13 million views on YouTube for the song "Knives and Pens."
