Bouncing Souls
The Bouncing Souls is a punk band, formed in 1987. They are originally from northern New Jersey. They made a name for themselves by touring all over the United States. They decided to "FIDY" or "F*** the Industry, Do it Yourself" and founded they own record label "Chunksaah Records" (which is named after their long-time friend Tim Chunks) and are now releasing their albums on Epitaph Records. The Souls (as they are affectionately called) are one of the first east coast bands to go deeper into the true soul punk rock and expose the unity, the love of youth, and the fun of the movement underneath all the Anarchy and the "F*** the System!"s.
The Bouncing Souls started out in 1987 for the intentions of playing loud, fast, three chord party music around their native New Jersey; besides it gave them something to do while they were in high school. Upon graduation and years of struggling to find a label to release their records, Greg Attonitoi (vocals), Pete Steinkept (guitar), Bryan Kienlen (bass) and Shal Khichi (drums) got some money together and formed Chunksaah Records in 1993. Upon the formation of their own label, two EP's were to follow entitled "Argyle" "and Neurotic" before releasing their first full-length "The Good, the Bad, and the Argyle" in 1994. Countless touring and due paying was to follow before striking a deal with BYO Records in 1995.

Artist Biography - Bouncing Souls
|
Not only did they re-release their debut album along with their follow-up "Maniacal Laughter," but they were also starting to make a name for themselves through opening up for NOFX, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Descendants amongst other big names. Eventually, their style of sing-a-long, hard-hitting, pop-punk caught the eyes of Epitaph Records in 1997. In that same year, their self-titled third album was released which not only called attention to themselves around the world, but it also enabled them to never have to work a full-time job for a while. The live EP "Tie One On" held the fans over in 1998 before their forth album "Hopeless Romantic" was released in 1999; How I Spent My Summer Vacation appeared in spring 2001. Two years later, the band collected their most honest material to date for the release of Anchors Away.
