In 1999, the band came out with its greatest hits compilation ‘By Request'. After the release of the album, the band hit the road in support of it. Around this time Ronan Keating came out with his debut solo single ‘When You Say nothing at all'. The same year, the band to the disappointment of their fans declared that they would be taking a hiatus to pursue solo projects.
After the break up, Ronan Keating embarked on a successful solo career; Stephen Gately too came out with a modestly successful solo album and started concentrating on West End musicals. Mikey Graham also embarked on a solo career and Keith Duffy appeared in the British Soap ‘Coronation Street' as well as a number of theatre productions in Ireland; Shane Lynch appeared on the Reality TV Show, ‘Celebrity Love Island'. On 16 November 2007, all the band members made an appearance on BBC1 in the UK. The band is scheduled to tour in 2008.
