Cascada is an award-winning German Euro-dance group, probably most famous for three of the group hit singles; Everytime We Touch – their first number one single which also won a World Music Award in 2007, What Hurts the Most which took the charts by storm in 2008, and Evacuate the Dancefloor which recently became a UK number one.
Cascada is a sharp, uplifting, Euro-dance trio which features producers DJ Manian (Manuel Reuter) and Yanou (Yann Peifer), along with English-German vocalist Natalie Horler; although Horler is sometimes referred to as Cascada herself. So far Cascada has sold an estimated 13 million copies of their three albums worldwide.
Natalie Horler was born in Bonn, Germany, to English parents and grew up loving all sorts of music. At age 18, as Natalie was doing studio work for various producers, she met DJ Manian and Yanou, after Yanou had already worked with DJ Sammy on the worldwide dance hit Heaven. The trio recorded the single Miracle in 2004 under the name Cascade. Prior to the record's second pressing, due to legal conflicts the group's name was changed to Cascada, which is Spanish for waterfall.
Miracle took off in German clubs and eventually caught the ear of the U.S. label, Robbins Entertainment, which had previously transformed other Euro-dance acts, DJ Sammy and D.H.T., into American chart-toppers. Robbins Entertainment then re-released Miracle, along with follow-up Cascada singles Bad Boy, Everytime We Touch, and How Do You Do!, which was a cover version of a Roxette song from 1992.
Cascada's big hit came as 2005 was ending, when DJ Sammy and Yanou came across the song Everytime We Touch by Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly. The trio re-recorded the tune, and by the middle of 2006 their version was a worldwide hit; including America, where it not only topped the dance charts, but made it into the Top Ten of the pop charts as well.
