Casey Stratton
In the year 1995, when Casey Stratton moved to L.A, he quickly got into touch with Magic Records and signed up a contract with them. In the same year he released "Driving to the Moon EP". The EP became a huge success and was also critically acclaimed. Not only this he became quite popular in the music scenario in the Los Angeles. He then released his first full length record, "The Giver and the Grave Digger", in the year 1996.
He performed a number of live shows. This lead to a string of memorable live performances at the Luna Park venue. In 1997, he released his first self-produced album, "Lily Sleeps". Almost 90 tracks were composed and then recorded and it marked an experimental phase for him. The songs became quite popular, though it was never released in the CD format.
Rondo Music Publishing approached him and he signed up a publishing contract with them in 1997. And at the same time, Casey started recording Whirlwind Medusa. It was during this period that Casey really started making waves and became popular as a recording artist and developed the kind of style which he still continues to do till today. During that time he also finished recording Hollow and House of Jupiter, which later became hot favorites in the near future. In 1999 Rondor Music Publishing informed Casey that the contract would not be renewed. Casey was unmoved by it, because he knew his talent would help him secure contract with other publishings. In the year 2000 Casey moved to Chicago and immersed himself in composing and writing songs. After some time he recorded and released "The Winter Children", an independent album. Later, many of these records were re-recorded and was released on Sony, with another name "Standing at the Edge".
In 2002, after he moved to New York City, he signed up with Sony Music. He went to L.A. To start recording for the album Standing at the Edge with Patrick Leonard, the legendary producer. Though the album was scheduled to be released in the year 2003, it was finally released in the year 2004. The album was quite successful and it was further augmented when Junior Vasquez remix of "House Of Jupiter" went to #1 on the Billboard Dance chart and remained there for almost 20 weeks. Next came "Divide", which was released in the year 2005, on Sleeping Pill Music (ASCAP), Casey's independent label. In the year 2006, he recorded and released "The Sun is Burning" which contains some traditional folk songs. Recently, Casey has released his next album "The Crossing".

Born in Lansing, Michigan in 1976, Casey Stratton for the last 11 years have lived in Los Angeles, California, Chicago, Illinois and New York City and presently resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He started taking lessons when he was only eight years old. At the age of ten he started taking lessons in Cello, a year later he started taking lessons in piano, and by the age of 16 he was taking lessons in guitar. It was while he was learning piano, that he developed a passion for composing songs and then performing them.
After completing his graduation from Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan, he moved to L.A to pursue his career in music. He released his first album on a major label, "Standing at the Edge" on Sony Music Entertainment. The album was a huge hit and even received favorable reviews. The album was praised highly in the magazines People and Billboard. His biggest influence in life has been Tori Amos. Other influences were Sarah McLachlan, Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, Björk, Paula Cole and Joni Mitchell. Classical composers such as Debussy, Ravel, Copland and Barber, have inspired his music greatly. Even the works of T. S. Eliot and Joseph Campbell, inspired many of his lyrics.
