Charly García is one of those Rock artists who have rocked the world for three decades. His admirers have extolled him enormously because of his sheer dint of hard work and steady performances. That is why his fans prey on his show tickets.Charly García was born as Carlos Alberto García Moreno in Buenos Aires on October 23, 1951. He is a prominent performer in the history of rock and roll for over thirty years. Music started from home as his mother produced radio music shows featuring folkloric music. Soon Charly showed his musical talent. His mother enlisted him in an esteemed conservatory, the Thibaud Piazzini. He received the title of Music Professor when he was 12. He described the Beatles as "classical music from Mars". He formed sui generis with his high school friend Carlos Alberto Mestre. And their first big show was a grand hit despite the absence of the band's bassist, guitarist and drummer. Their musical simplicity and romantic lyrics appealed widely to teenagers.
García had a small stint in military. But his love for music beckoned him there. Therefore, he tried everything to take leave from military. Meanwhile, he composed two songs namely Botas locas (Crazy Boots) and Cancion para mi muerte (Song for my Death). In 1972, he released his first LP, Vida, which soon became popular among Argentineans. Later on, they released "Confesiones de invierno" (Winter Confessions) in 1973. This album was very successful commercially. In 1974 his band evolved to a more traditional rock sound, incorporating bass and drums. With this change, the band launched its new album, "Instituciones" later its name was changed to "Pequeñas anécdotas de las instituciones". The album had a social angle highlighting on the unstable nature of Argentinian situation at the time. Some of his other famous albums include "Bubulina" (1976) and Eiti Leda (1978).
Finally, his honeymoon with his band Sui Generis ended on September 9, 1975 and later on formed a new band "La máquina de Hacer Pájaros "("The bird-making machine"). Two LP's were released that year, Adiós Sui Generis ("Goodbye Sui Generis") volumes I and II. He recorded two albums: La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros (1976) and Películas ("Movies", 1977. Songs on "Movies" carried a political message pointing against the dictatorial government of those years. After dissolving "La máquina" Charly recruited a gifted 19-year-old bass player, Pedro Aznar, and drummer Oscar Moro his old partner from La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros. The band was named Serú Girán. Their first show was "Charly García... and Serú Girán" which did not become that popular among the admirers. The band developed a new sound in which bass was very important, and a striking aesthetic with lyrics packed with poetry. Their new LP "La grasa de las capitales" ("Grease," or "Fat," "of the Capitals").The public received the album with enthusiasm and the band's shows improved progressively. A romance seemed to develop between the people and Charly‘s Serú Girán. In 1980 his new long play called Bicicleta ("Bicycle") came up. The music was modern and strong and very melodious and became very successful commercially, as fans found it remarkable. This threw Charly to the zenith as fans considered his music best ever. He was recognized as a great artist. His shows drew crowds from among both the rich and the poor. On September 13, 1980, Serú Girán and Spinetta Jade played together. This combined show has been considered one of the greatest in the history of Argentinian rock. 1981 was the best year for the band in terms of live performances.
Garcia's solo career began in 1982 when he recorded Yendo de la Cama al Living, the soundtrack to the film Pubis Angelical. Several personal songs like "Inconsciente Colectivo" and "Yo No Quiero Volverme Tan Loco" were included in it. The enormously good response from the public left their historical mark and proved that García was on the right way. It was at this time war was going on and his songs clearly depicted the portrait and cry of the desolate on the one hand while on the other carried a message of hope for the stricken people. These songs that read the pulse of the nation were "No bombardeen Buenos Aires" (Don't bomb Buenos Aires), "Inconsciente colectivo" (Collective unconscious) and "Yo no quiero volverme tan loco" (I don't want to go that crazy).
Charly became nostalgic when Argentina returned to democracy. It was well visible throughout his 1984 tour. Charly Garcia released a movie soundtrack Terapia intensiva (Intensive cares) later that year. Piano Bar released in 1985 completed his golden trilogy. But cocaine snorting made his music more and more violent and sometimes infantile. His furious and angry mood got its expression in Demoliendo hoteles (Demolishing Hotels). During these years, Garcia's troupe was abode of future Latin music luminaries like Andres Calamaro, Alfredo Toth, Fito Paez, Pablo Guyot, Willy Iturri and Fabiana Cantilo.
Artist Biography - Charly Garcia
In 1987, García made his come back. His previous calmness and serenity in music returned again with Parte de la Religión (Part of the Religion). Many singles from that LP such as No voy en tren (I don't take the train) and Necesito tu amor (I need your love) became super hits. In 1988, Charly had his debut as an actor in the movie Lo que vendrá playing a nurse. He also composed its soundtrack. His new album, Como conseguir chicas was released in 1989.He began his world tour of 1990 with a new band formed in collaboration with Hilda Lizarazu. But soon he was without a band. When he recorded his new disc, Cheap Philosophy and Rubber Shoes (Filosofía barata y zapatos de goma), he was helped by many of his old goodies like Andrés Calamaro, Pedro Aznar, Fabián Von Quintiero, Rinaldo Rafanelli, Fabiana Cantilo, Mestre and even Hilda Lizarazu. It was a rock version of the Argentinean national anthem with a fresh, strong, respectful and sincere infusion to national life.
In 1994 Garcia struck back. The lanes of Buenos Aires were full with advertisements "The genius has come back". His new project was "La Lágrima" (The Tear's Daughter). In 1995, he recorded "Hello! MTV Unplugged", his one of the best performance. "Buenos Aires Vivo", the free public-rock festival concert, February 1999 by Garcia was one of the biggest concerts in the history of Argentina. In 2000, he came back to Sui Generis and an album, Sinfonía Para Adolescentes was released. His 2002 release "Influencia" was model classic song-oriented album.
Thus, Charly García is back again. Like a phoenix, he raised from ashes every rime to touch the skies. His generational hymns have been at the forefront of expanding the precincts of pop music.
