However it would be his two subsequent singles 'Lady in Red' and 'High on Emotion' that would catapult him to superstar status. 'Lady in Red' continues to be a hot romantic number even today while the anthem-like feel of 'High on Emotion' is still a popular number with fans.
De Burgh's concerts are sell-out affairs even today- he has played over 3000 concerts in the span of his career, which works out to one show every 3 ½ days! He has played concerts all over the world in places like Australia, Japan, Central Europe, Germany, South Africa and Scandinavia. De Burgh also has the distinction of being one of the artists called on to perform at the German Re-Unification concert in 1990. He has over 200 gold and platinum sales to his name and is a favorite of many world leaders like Boris Yeltsin and Helmut Kohl.
