Get your tickets booked from Online Seats to enjoy the wonder evening with Collage of Choirs. Collage of Choirs is an annual function which features the group of famous choirs and singers from IOWA. This concert give a wonderful platform to over 300 singers from four finest choirs of Iowa state joins together for the annual Collage of Choirs performance. The 27th annual concert held on Oct. 1 2006 at Stephens Auditorium, featured the Iowa Statesmen, Cantamus, Lyrica and the Iowa State Singers. All of these choirs are famous for their extraordinary musicality and spirited commitment to singing. The choirs play the traditional, contemporary music with wonderful blend sometimes. All the choirs that participate in the concert annually are considered as the finest choirs of state. At the end of the concert, all choirs sand together "The Bells of Iowa State" which made the end of the concert even more relaxing and amazing. Lat year, the 26th annual concert held at the American Choral Directors Association national convention in Los Angeles. The concert lasts almost 75 minutes. This wonderful concert featuring great choirs together traditionally is held on Family Weekend. James Rodde, the director of choral activities said "It gives parents a chance to see what the students are doing. It's also the first performance of the year and students get a chance to hear each other sing as well". The concert included the superb musical pieces from old to modern day music. It featured serious to playful, sacred and secular, all of them appealed the audience to a great extent. The concert represented early composers including Brahms, Schumann, Leisring and Howells. In addition to this, the class poetry of Dickinson, Shelley and Tennyson is also presented and made a engrossing part of the concert. The choirs performed their amazing skills and notes in various languages including English, German, Latin, Spanish and Hebrew.

One of participating choir is Cantamus Women's choir which was founded in fall of 2000. it was formed while restructuring of the choral program at Iowa State. The choir members are 62 women who has come a broad range of academic backgrounds.The director of the Choir, Ketherene Rodde says that only about 10 percent of the members make the music majors. For example, Jessica Markham, senior in psychology, sings soprano II in Cantamus. Jessica informs that she has been involved in Cantamus since she was a fresher in music. She says "I was a little skeptical about joining a women's choir back in the beginning, but I really enjoy it, Rodde is a great director and we all get along". Another participating choir is Lyrica Women's choir, famous for its emphasis on fundamental vocal and choral skills, with a wide variety of literature. It holds campus concerts each semester. One of the leading choirs that participates in the annual collage of choirs is The Iowa Statesmen. This choir was founded by Dr. Rodde in the fall of 2000. This musical group holds the meetings three times per week. It specializes in the performance of traditional as well as contemporary male chorus literature. The ensemble performs many times every year and enjoys playing an active role in the Iowa State community. Other than doing annual concerts, the group also joins the other three ISU choirs to present the Holiday as well as Masterworks Concerts, each with orchestra.
