With Charles Little and his 8 points and 4 rebounds being the only replacement needed, there are a few returning Flyers in the conversation, as well as a couple of newcomers. Josh Benson, a very highly ranked recruit coming out of high school, missed all of last season with an injury, but is healthy again now and should emerge as the player everybody had anticipated as long as he can stay healthy. Big man Matt Kavanaugh is the lone incoming freshman. While rare for a young player, Kavanaugh is physically prepared to play against anybody, and should be part of the regular rotation if he can remain poised. London Warren is the player who makes Dayton go, and while he will not score very much, he does not need to on this team. All he needs to do is find his teammates and play great defense, which is exactly what he has done and will continue to do. Last year Warren dished out more than 4 assists per game while only turning the ball over a tad less than 2 times, and was also named to the conference's All-Defensive Team. If there is a year that Dayton is going to top Xavier for the conference title, this is it. The conference is good enough for both teams to make the NCAA Tournament, but the Flyers are the most experienced and deepest team, and they want to show the country that they are here to stay. A conference title and run to the Sweet Sixteen should prove it, but it all starts at the UD Arena, so get your tickets now and be there for what promises to be a very exciting season for the Dayton Flyers.
