 Marshall was just 12-17 in Jirsa's first season. While that frontcourt is young and needs some time to jell, the backcourt is loaded with depth and experience. 6'-3' senior guard A.W. Hamilton is a strong playmaker who led the team in assists with 5.4 per game. He led the MAC in assists two years ago and also chipped in 9 points per game, second on the team. The backcourt also has veterans 6'-3' senior Ronny Dawn (8.5 ppg), the third leading scorer, and 6'-0' senior Enoch Bunch (16 minutes per game).
Okafor joins newcomers Ryan Lamb, Joe Miles, Casey Wohlleb, and Jesse Oglesby to complete Jirsa's first recruiting class as head coach of the Herd. The Thundering Herd were young last season, which partly explains why they were 8-6 SU/9-5 ATS at home, but 4-11 SU/6-8 ATS on the road. The defense was average at home (68 ppg allowed) but surrendered 80 ppg on the road! They have a shot to creep up near the .500 mark, but are more likely a middle of the pack MAC team again.
