Always an exciting postseason contest, the 33rd annual Independence Bowl will kick off at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana this December, and will feature teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and Big-12 Conference in what promises to be yet another classic NCAA bowl matchup.
Fans can expect an offensive battle when Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Jerrod Johnson meets up with Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Joe Cox in the 2009 Advocare V100 Independence Bowl. The Aggies (6-6) are ranked 23rd in the nation with their average of just under 34 points per game, while the Bulldogs (7-5) are ranked 10th in the SEC with an average of a little more than 26 points allowed. The Bulldogs gave up more than 40 points in three games for the second straight season, so the main factor in this game will be how Georgia's defense stacks up against an A&M offense which is ranked in the nation's top 25 in scoring, rushing, passing, and total offense. To say the least, Georgia is facing a stiff challenge in its Independence Bowl matchup against Texas A&M.
The Independence Bowl is an annual showdown of some of the best teams in college football, including teams like Alabama, Oklahoma State, Mississippi, LSU, and Colorado, to name a few. The 2008 Independence Bowl was a close one, with Louisiana Tech getting an exciting 17-10 win over Northern Illinois, and this year's game should provide more of the same solid competition.
