This year the Ole Miss Rebels come in representing the SEC and the Oklahoma State Cowboys represent the Big 12. The Ole Miss Rebels came in third in the West Division in the SEC with a 4-4 record in conference and 8-4 record overall. The team dominated opponents with a powerful rushing game and very complimentary passing game. Despite the stats, surprisingly there are few dominant players of note. The Rebels, like many teams, split the carries in the backfield. Dexter McCluster and Brandon Bolden are the two main backs. Together they have 1,599 yards and 10 touchdowns. Quarterback Jevan Snead is effective behind the center, throwing for 2,464 yards and 20 touchdowns, though he does have a tendency to turn the ball over as evident by his 17 picks. The Oklahoma State Cowboys come in ranked 19th in the BCS standings with a 9-3 record overall and 6-2 record in the South Division in the Big 12. The team finished second in the division and is spurred on by an amazing running game that averages nearly 200 yards a game. Keith Toston is the unquestioned main back. He has 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns. Running backs Beau Johnson and Kendall Hunter take some carries every game and quarterback Zac Robinson can scramble for the occasional yard or two. Robinson does not throw a whole lot, but when he does he spreads the ball out. Nine players have touchdown receptions and nine players have at least 10 receptions on the season. This AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic should be another great game between the conferences. Both teams have a great running game so this is one for classic football fans.
