Yes, this is a rivalry worth watching and it is featuring a couple of teams from the Mountain West. Sure, a decade ago if anyone bragged about having Boise State vs TCU tickets, people would give them an interesting looks. However, the 21st century has revealed an altered college football reality, one in which these schools have consistently been national title contenders.
This season the TCU Horned Frogs have already opened the season with a loss. The loss occurred early enough so that Coach Gary Patterson can get this football team back on the right track over the course the remaining schedule to earn an invitation to a high-profile non-BCS bowl. Winning this game is key though.
Quarterback Casey Pachall plays an important role in this recovery. He has the difficult task of replacing Andy Dalton, who has the difficult task of turning around the Bengals franchise. Pachall needs to forge some kind of unbreakable bond with wide receiver Josh Boyce. Mind you, the Horned Frogs also have a trio of quality running backs in Ed Wesley, Waymon James, and Matthew Tucker. Unfortunately, the defense has fewer prospects to recreate last season's defense.
