When most of the clubs are born by consolidating independent teams, or by initiating a few teams at young ages, John and Tony's vision was to field 10 teams in the first year. For this they used techniques that were new in 1996.
they circulated Full color brochures - 15,000 of them throughout the Dallas Soccer community. It featured the the FC coaching and playing philosophy. Jennings and Bily were interested only in right kind of players and the right kind of parents, who understood that winning in the long term is a function of development, hard work and good coaching. This marketing strategy worked and several hundred girls, boys and parents showed up for the first tryouts and the 10-team goal was met. Since then the club has grown, with 13 teams fielded in 2000 and 20+ teams for 2004.
according to the coaches of club, well-rounded soccer player must have three "Soccer S's" - skills, speed, and smarts. And FC Dallas focuses on providing ample opportunity for progress in all three. Special Sunday afternoon skills sessions expose players to multiple coaches, including goalie workouts. Conditioning is a big part of the FC program, with an elective opportunity to work with a running coach. And "smarts" are learned through high intensity practices and classroom sessions.
For FC teams indoor soccer is considered as equally important part of the game. Developing the skill and quickness, touching the ball multiple times, and learning both defensive and offensive tactics are important in developing well-rounded players. FC Dallas is a professional American soccer club from Frisco, Texas that participates in Major League Soccer. From 1996 to 2004, the club was known as the Dallas Burn. The initials "FC" stand for Futbol Club. From 1989 to 1991, there had been a team called FC Dallas in the minor league Lone Star Soccer Alliance. In August 2005, the club shifted into Pizza Hut Park, which is a soccer-specific stadium in the northern suburb of Frisco. Previous to that, it had played at the Dragon Stadium and Cotton Bowl and in 2003 and 2004 respectively. Since 2001, the club and the Chicago Fire have played for the Brimstone Cup, which goes to the team that wins the season series between the two teams.
The team love to dress in the colors red, white, and blue. The team's nicknames are Hoops and FCD. Some fans and local media have also used Toros. The official supporter's group of FC Dallas, known as the Inferno, were founded shortly after the announcement of the team itself.
The club is crowned with not one, but many honors. For for years 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006, they were the proud winners of Brimstone Cup. Also in 2006, they won Rio Gradde Plate. In 1997, the club recorded win in the US Open Cup but were ranked as Runners-up for the 2005 Cup.
