This year the ACC sends Georgia Tech to Miami to play Iowa from the Big Ten. The Yellow Jackets come in ranked number 9 in the BCS Standings and the Hawkeyes come in ranked 10th. Georgia Tech won the Coastal Division of the ACC and beat Clemson from the Atlantic Division to earn this bid. They finished 11-2 on the year and 7-1 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets run most of the time, picking up an average of 307 yards a game with the triple option. Running back Jonathon Dwyer, several other running backs, and quarterback Josh Nesbitt split carries. Dwyer ran for 1,346 yards and 14 touchdowns and Nesbitt ran for 991 yards and 18 touchdowns. Iowa spent much the season in running for the national championship until two consecutive losses in November knocked them out of contention for the national title and the Big Ten title. The Hawkeyes finished 10-2 and are fortunate to be ranked in the top ten. The losses followed the injury to starting quarterback Ricky Stanzi, who may be back in time to play for the Orange Bowl. Without Stanzi the Hawkeyes will rely on Adam Robinson and Brandon Wegner to run the ball and for the defense to prove as stingy as it was during Big Ten conference play.
