The Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl has quickly become one of the NCAA's premier postseason college football bowl events. With each edition of the game, which pits teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) against each other, adding to the tradition and history of the bowl, this year's game at LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee should be another great one, so order your tickets as soon as possible.
Nashville may as well be considered the postseason home of Kentucky's football Wildcats, as UK will be making their third trip to the Music City Bowl in the past four years, while looking to win their fourth consecutive bowl game overall. Kentucky coach Rich Brooks has already started to sell the Wildcats (7-5) on embracing the challenge to keep their postseason winning streak alive at four, and based on their recent history there may be a good chance that they will.
The 2009 Music City Bowl will match Kentucky against a Clemson Tigers team that was outlasted by Georgia Tech in a wild and crazy ACC Championship Game. Clemson (8-5) missed out on the ACC Championship with a narrow 39-34 loss to #10 Georgia Tech on the first Saturday in December, and thus have fallen all the way from a possible BCS Orange Bowl berth to a trip to the Music City Bowl. The Tigers, which feature one of the most explosive all-purpose offensive players – C.J. Spiller – as well as one of the top-ranked defenses in the nation, will get a rematch and opportunity to avenge their 28-20 Music City Bowl loss to the Wildcats in 2006.
