The sidelines aren't what football fans are accustomed to seeing. After all there is a dugout behind the visitor's bench, a bullpen behind the northern most end zone, no nets behind the goal posts, and if you look around for a scoreboard you might see R-H-E somewhere. That is because Bank One Ballpark isn't usually a football stadium. For the third consecutive year Bank One Ballpark will be transformed into a football stadium for the only football game to be played under its retractable roof: the Insight Bowl.
This unique facility features a retractable roof, air conditioning and a natural turf playing field. It took 28 months to build the $354 million facility. Since opening day in 1998, the Ballpark has served as the home for the Arizona Diamondbacks. It has hosted a variety of events including four games of the 2001 World Series.
The ballpark is organized on six levels and encompasses 1,300,000-sq. ft., including the 140,000-sq. ft. baseball playing field. Bank One Ballpark can be configured to accommodate football, basketball and soccer games as well as other recreational events.
Its retractable roof can open or close within five minutes and the 8,000 tons of air-conditioning can bring the temperature down by as much as 30 degrees in four hours. Above the field is a movable roof system composed of six operable telescoping panels, that when open create 5.5 acres of open sky. The roof weighs 6,900 tons and spans 517 feet.

 The Insight Bowl is an NCAA-sanctioned Division I-A post-season college American football bowl game played in Arizona since 1989. From 1989 to 1999, the games were played at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona. Since 2000, the games have been played at the Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, Arizona.
