The Crossroads Guitar Festival is the Olympics for guitarists. It occurs once every few years, bringing the greatest living guitarists together for a single day to play before the thousands fortunate to have Crossroads Guitar Festival tickets. The best from blues, country, rock, and bluegrass come together to play for the benefit of a drug treatment center on the Caribbean Island of Antigua, located southeast of Puerto Rico.

Eric Clapton, the world-renowned guitarist that whose fame and skill have outlasted his stints with The Yardbirds, Cream, and an endless list of other star-studded side projects, founded this event in 2004 to raise funds for the 32-bed facility on the tropical island. He admits that part of motivation for the Crossroads Guitar Festival is selfish since he picks the players he would most like to see, listen to, and play with live.

The 2004 show took place at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, raising plenty of funds through the sale of concert tickets and the two-disc DVD containing over four hours of footage of guitar legends. The release went on to sell several times platinum in the United States and many other countries throughout the world.
