Daughtry began in 2006. Chris Daughtry had just finished fourth on American Idol and turned down the lead singing gig for Fuel. He seemed intent on starting his own band. First, Daughtry signed with 19 Entertainment and RCA Records. Next he found four band mates – rhythm guitarist Jeremy Brady, lead guitarist Josh Steely, bassist Josh Paul, and drummer Joey Barnes. They stuck with the lead singer's last name for name recognition and would never regret that decision.
The rock band released its self-titled album and entered the music industry number one on the Billboard 200. The group suddenly had a four-time platinum album in the United States and two-time platinum album in Canada. The album yielded an incredible seven singles. "It's Not Over" and "Home" would go platinum and "Over You went Gold. These three songs and "Feels Like Tonight" and "What About Now" finished in the Top 5 on the U.S. Adult charts.
Leave This Town and Break the Spell followed, with Leave This Town going platinum and Break the Spell is certainly going to follow suit.
