Dj Funk
A Pioneer, Funk's popularity rose in the late 90s thanks to EP's released on the Dancemania label. Not one to remain nonchalant, Funk traveled and played sets throughout the Midwest playing pornographic-themed, pitched-up dance music. A multitude of his mix tapes and independently released CDs spread across the Midwest. However, his fame was restricted to the Midwest ravers and the Chicago/Detroit axis. Also, unlike his contemporaries like Detroit Booty Artists, he did not have a scene he could call home. Not one to give up, he continued DJing and started the DJ Funk Records label. In 1999, he released Booty House Anthems nationally.
As one of Dance Mania & Underground Construction's top selling artist/producers, he has been DJing professionally for 10 years. In 2007, Funk developed his own record label, Funk Entertainment Inc. The label has remixed for artists like Fast Eddie, DJ Sneak, The Basement Jaxx, Justice, Angel Alanis & Chester Beauty. Blessed with entrepreneurial skill, besides the immense talent, Funk has licensing tracks to DJ's such as Jeff Miles, Dave Clark, Carl Cox, Bad Boy Bill and Humty vision for their mix tapes. Besides, DJ Funk made Licensing deals with Sony, Virgin, Moonshine and edbanger records; which is distributed by WEA.
Funk has performed for worldwide audiences: Scotland, Ireland, Amsterdam, Hawaii, Canada, Paris, London, cities in Germany and Tokyo. Stateside, he performs regularly at Chicago, New York, LA, Detroit, Atlanta and Florida. A crowd-favorite, DJ Funk has performed with and for artists such as Ice T, DJ Dan, DJ Qubert, Wu Tang Clan, Grand Master Flash, African Bambada, Run DMC, Daft Punk, Bad Boy Bill, Green Velvet, DJ Irene, Frankie Bones,Funk Master Flex, and the list goes on.
DJ Funk was featured in the documentary "Modulation' which was based on the history of House music. Funk is not mainstream as Paul Oakenfold but anyone who knows electronica/ house music is familiar with DJ Funk.
DJ Funk incorporates killer beats with cool samples. The sound is clean and super-addictive. The music tends to get ingrained into your brain. Truly an underground dance music legend, the coveted tickets are hard to get. However, all's worthwhile after you watch his performance.

Chicago's very own DJ Funk pioneered and mastered Ghetto House; a mix of, House, Techno and Hip-Hop. His DJ sets had music lovers of all genres buy tickets to dance and groove the night away. His influences are African Bambada, Farley Jack Funk and Grand Master Flash. DJ Funk is credited for pushing hip-hop and rap into mainstream Chicago before it reached the fame it now has. "Booty House Anthems", his most renowned album sold over 1.000.000 copies.
Growing up on the West Side of Chicago, IL, he was influenced by music from Chicago, NY and Detroit. As a teen he began playing sets at dances, block parties, house parties, school and neighbor hood clubs. DJ Funk has come a long way. Now, his mix CDs have graced the ears and the decks of many. Funk and his albums are renowned in the House/ Electronica category.
