Don Omar is the stage name of William Omar Landron, a Reggaeton musician. As Don Omar he first made an appearance on the song "Dejame cazarlos" on the album Operacion Sandunga. This one song led to a sudden burst in popularity among local disc jockeys. He enjoyed success almost immediately as a solo artist. He released the Last Don on June 17, 2003 and witnessed as his debut album made him one of the most recognizable modern Latin artists of the 21st century. Don Omar's debut album went platinum for both the studio and live editions. It won awards from the 2003 Billboard Latin Music Awards for Latin Pop Album of the Year, New Artist of the Year, and Latin Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year.
Don Omar was a star. His sophomore album, King of Kings bested that debut album. It reached number seven on the Billboard 200 and went four-times platinum in the U.S. For Latin albums.
