Down's first album, NOLA, went platinum and peaked at number 57 on the Billboard 200. The album was followed by a hiatus from 1996 to 1999. Upon the reunion, the band recorded Down II: A Bustle in Your Hedgegrow. The album would not go platinum, but it did peak at number 44 on the Billboard 200 and earn nominations from three UK metal magazines for "Album of the Year." Down III" Over the Under, recorded after another hiatus, debuted at number 26 on the Billboard 200.

Now, the band is back with Diary of a Mad Band, which has already been imprinted on the Billboard 200.
