The boys were fired from former label Sub Pop over a joke about the fictitious death of band guitarist "HE who cannot be named".
Touring, television and radio appearances, sales of their music and DVDs of shows throughout North America, Japan and Europe have garnered a huge following worldwide. Unlike the current crop of manufactured, pseudo-punk bands, the Dwarves must be lauded for remaining individualistic and unapologetic, which is the essence of punk. Always controversial, always entertaining, not most may agree with the Dwarves but no one can deny their presence. Their fans still buy tickets and records to support the boys who have lasted more than a decade.

Artist Biography - Dwarves
|
Punk legends and sometimes twisted hardcore performers, the Dwarves remain as relevant now as they were in the 1980's. Their fans, a niche group would fight to buy Dwarves' tickets or records. If the success of a band is measured by how loyal their fans are, then the Dwarves take it all. The boys are known for their aggressive, thrashing sound and explicit, sometimes questionable lyrics. No matter where they performed and they have performed in a lot of places, they caused a riot.
Blag Dahlia, whose real name is Paul Cafaro and He Who Cannot Be Named (guitarist) are the founders of the band. In the late 1980's in Chicago, Illinois the two and others came together to form The Suburban Nightmare. Of late, the band has made San Francisco, California their home. The current line-up of Dwarves' includes Blag "the RIPPER " Dahlia, Fresh Prince of Darkness, He who cannot be named, Wreck Tom and Clint Torres. Previous bandmates were "Chip Fracture", "Tazzie Bushweed", "Vadge Moore", "Thrusty Otis", "Crash Landon" and "Wreck Tom ". "The Dwarves Must Die", one of their ventures has star appearances like Dexter Holland (Offspring), Nash Kato (Urge Overkill), Eric Valentine, Spike (Me First & Gimmie Gimmies), Gary Owens (Space Ghost) and San Quinn (Get Low Playaz). Vocalist Blag Dahlia considers Frank Zappa and Cab Calloway as influences. Besides fronting the Dwarves, he has served as producer for bands the Gain, the Swingin' Utters, FYP, Damnation, the Martinis, the Holograms and John Cougar Concentration Camp. Blag has written two books, 'Armed to the Teeth With Lipstick' and 'NINA'. Dalia even released a solo record called Venus With Arms. Temporarily he adopted the alias of Earl Lee Grace and released Blackgrass, an entirely bluegrass album.
