East Hartford Information: Tickets, Venues, Events and More

‘East Hartford’ is a town of Hartford County in Connecticut in the USA. The European explorers came here to know more about the Connecticut Valley around 1631. Several River Tribes used to inhabit in this regiuon at that era. They, as small clans of the Native Americans, used to reside in the banks of Great River and its tributaries.

One of those tribes, the Podunks occupied this territory in the past era. They are now famous as the towns of East Hartford and South Windsor accordingly. Two unique sachems named Waginacut and Arramamet rule these regions. The area north of Hockanum River is famous as Podunk. Thomas Burnham (1617 - 1688) took possession of this tract of land in 1659 after purchasing it, which presently inhibits the towns of South Windsor and East Hartford from Tantinomo and Chief sachem of the Podunk Indians in the present era.

East Hartford became a separate town in 1783. It was expanded for some extent. The newly revised city territoty included Manchester in its city limits until 1823. The recent US Census Bureau estimates that this city has a total area of 18.8 square miles, out of which 18.0 square miles is land and 0.8 square miles is water.

The 2000 census reports explain that East Hartford has 49,575 inhabitants, 20,206 households and 12,830 families. Its population density is 2,750.5 people per square mile. It has 21,273 housing units at an average density of 1,180.2/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 64.69% Whites, 18.83% Black or African Americans, 0.34% Native Americans, 4.01% Asians, 0.04% Pacific Islanders, 8.74% from miscellenious races and 3.35% from two or more races. Its Hispanic or Latino race consists of 15.23% of the total population. The sex ratio of this city is 91.4 males for every 100 females. It has 87.8 males for every 100 females aged 18 and above.
