‘Eau Claire’ city is situated in the west-central part of Wisconsin State of the USA. A tiny portion of it lies in the neighboring Chippewa County. It is the main city of Eau Claire in Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area.

This city has been named as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People by America's Promise in 2007. It is recognized as one of the first Tree Cities in Wisconsin since 1980. It has a city manager-city council form of government since switching from a mayoral system in 1948. Its City Council consists of five members elected from all districts – five at-large from the entire city – and an elected city council president, elected at-large. David Adler is the current city council president.

Eau Claire's growth drove twofold with the arrival of lumber industry here in the late 19th century. Its economic condition reshaped after the loss of thousands of manufacturing jobs in 1990 when several plants were opened here. They were meant for the construction of computer hardware. They included the plant of Hutchinson Technology. This city is home to IDEXX Computer Systems. It is home to the Cascades Tissue Group, Menards, National Presto Industries, Inc., Midwest Manufacturing, Silver Spring Gardens, Realityworks, Erbert & Gerbert's and et al.

According to the 2000 census reports, this city has 61,704 inhabitants, 24,016 households and 13,569 families. Its population density is 2,037.8 people per square mile. It has 24,895 housing units at an average density of 822.2/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 93.44% Whites, 0.70% African Americans, 0.55% American Indians, 3.66% Asians, 0.04% Pacific Islanders, 0.34% from other races and 1.28% from two or more races. Its Hispanic population is 1.00% of the entire population.

Eau Claire has developed many avenues for employment sectors in retails, healthcare and education. It had been incorporated in 1872. This city has a total area of 32.37 square miles, of which 30.28 square miles is land and 2.08 square miles is water.
