Ekoostik Hookah came into existence in 1991 in a smoky basement bar in Ohio. It is made of vocalist/keyboardist Dave Katz, Steve Sweney who is the lead guitarist, the talented bassist Cliff Starbuck, Eric Lanese on the drums and the hugely gifted guitarist/vocalist John Mullins. Their music from the beginning has stood out from other contemporizes. The band over the years has been continually evolving and gaining in refinement. It trying to cultivate a sound that is poignant has the attitude to attract and retain thousands of cheering fans who make it a point to routinely travel hundreds of miles just to hear them play.
