‘El Cajon’ is a city in the San Diego County of California in the USA. The term El Cajón is a Spanish word for ‘the Drawer.’ It denotes to being a parcel of land that is granted out of the vast Mission San Diego de Alcala tract, which is often used for the farming purpose by the Spanish missionaries.

It was way back in 1912 that El Cajon had been incorporated into a city. As per the US Census Bureau statistics, the total area of this city is 37.7 km². This city doesn’t have water area. Its entire portion is land. El Cajon is situated in the 36th Senate District of the state legislature that is currently represented by Republican Dennis Hollingsworth. It is the 77th Assembly District of the country being represented by Republican Joel Anderson. As per the federal statistics of the country, El Cajon is located in the 52nd congressional district of California. It is currently represented by Republican Duncan Hunter.

According to 2000 census reports, this city has 94,869 inhabitants, 34,199 households and 23,152 families residing in the city circles. Its population density is 2,514.0/km². It has 35,190 housing units at an average density of 932.5/km². Its racial makeup is 74.00% Whites, 5.37% African Americans, 0.99% Native Americans, 2.79% Asians, 0.37% Pacific Islanders, 10.49% from other races and 5.99% from two or more races. Its Hispanic or Latino race is 22.47% of the total population.

37.0% of the 34,199 households have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.0% are married couples who live together, 16.0% has a female householder without any husband, and 32.3% are non-families. Approximately 24.1% of the entire household is made up of individuals and 8.5% has someone living alone who is 65 years of age or above.
