He completed his education at the Conservatorio. He learned the trumpet at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and composition under the legend, Goffredo Petrassi. He is also a master of choral music and direction. Morricone studied at the Conservatorio when World War II was going on. The scenes of hunger and torture were very firmly etched in his mind.
In the early years of his career, Morricone believed that he was more suited to composing modern classical music. His thoughts changed when he started receiving offers to compose music for popular Italian songs. He started a new chapter of his life in the year 1956, when he got married. He had three children. With the responsibility of his family on his shoulders, he started composing music for films in 1961. He started composing music for films but his style of music was classical and unconventional.
