Artist Biography - Everly Brothers
|
With sublime, mainly acoustic guitar backing, and honey sweet close-harmony vocals, their music helped a lot to bridge the gap between mainstream rock and country music in a progressive way that appealed instantly to fans of both genres. The Everly Brothers debut titled "Keep A' Loving Me, " was released in 1956. Their next single titled "Bye Bye Love," immediately became an across-the-board huge smash hit. It reached #2 on the pop charts, and even #1 spot on both the Country, and also the R & B charts. After this they became known as the prominent stalwarts of Archie Bleyer's reputed Cadence Records label. Next they had a huge hit with the single "Claudette," which incidentally was written by Roy Orbison. In the year 1960, when they signed with famous Warner Bros. Records, they regularly managed to have hits. Everly Brothers gave many memorable recordings like "Gone, Gone, Gone" released in the year 1964 and "The Price Of Love," and "It Only Costs a Dime" in 1965. They also recorded, with members of famous The Hollies contributing delightful songs such as "So Lonely" and the classic "Don't Run and Hide," In the year 1968 they successfully recorded another album now regarded as a all time classic, titled Roots, which suitably featured their own beautiful compositions alongside songs by the legendary Randy Newman and others. The duo unfortunately broke up in the year 1973, but reformed again in 1983. Then they released a new titled "On the Wings of a Nightingale", which also became a huge hit.
