Fabulosos Cadillacs instantly came into prominence with their release of their first album tiled Bares y Fondas which literally translated means Bars and Boardinghouses in the year 1986. The album was widely applauded by both critics and fans and since then they have not looked back. After that they have successfully released fourteen more complete albums. The band's trademark sound is a eccentric mix of rock, ska, jazz combined with salsa, folk, rap and having elements of a big band. The talented lineup has changed number of times throughout the years, but the prominent core members have always been there. The band was confounded by singer Gabriel Fernandez Capello who is better know as known as Vicentico along with bassist Flavio Cianciarulo commonly known as Sr. Flavio. Together Vicentico and Sr. Flavio have been responsible for the majority of the songwriting and composition of lyrics as well. The band, which has successfully collaborated with some famous music stars such as the great Mick Jones, Debbie Harry, the talented Celia Cruz, Rubén Blades and the likes of Fishbone. They have received the popular MTV Latino Video Music Award in the year 1994 for the remarkable single "Matador", in the period that was probably the peak of popularity of the band. The wonderful song made an strong appearance on the famous soundtrack for the movie called Grosse Pointe Blank. That very year they also produced an MTV Unplugged concert. The irresistible Cadillacs also incidentally won the 1998 Grammy Award in the category for the Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album. They were also nominated in the prestigious 2000 Latin Grammy Awards for coveted Best Band and even the Best Music Video titled "La Vida". They also received the International Viewer's Choice Award during the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Apart from touring as a band the leading members are working on personal projects as well.
