Background- Goatwhore is a black/death metal band from America. The band was formed in the year 1997 in New Orleans, Louisiana. It so happened that in the year 1997, Sammy Duet, who was the former member of Acid Bath, Zak Nolan and Patrick Bruders was trying to create something new and it resulted in black metal. When the band Acid Bath broke off, these new members recorded a four track demo. But during that time Sammy broke his jaw in an accident and he was replaced by Louis Benjamin Falgoust II, a singer from the band Soilent Green, Louisana, although Sammy stayed during the recording of the band. In the year 1998, the group released another demo under Red Sea Productions.
In the year 2000, the group finally released "The Eclipse Of Ages Into Black" which was their first full length album. From the year 2000 till 2002 the band embarked upon extensive touring and during that tour they also opened for many popular bands such as GWAR, Mortician, and Immolation. In the year 2003, they released their second album, "Funeral Dirge For The Rotting Sun". In the same year they released their next album Goatwhore/Epoch of Unlight (Split 7"). To support the album, the band embarked upon the Art of Noise 2 tour in the U.S. along with Kreator, Vader, Amon Amarth, and Nile.
Due to some unavoidable reasons, the band couldn't release any albums as well as tours. In the year 2004, they toured Japan and there they opened for Dark Funeral and Zyklon on The Dojo Volume 9. In the year 2004, they signed up with Metal Blade Records, and got busy to write songs for their third full length album. The band also released a music video for the song "Blood Guilt Eucharist", which was played in MTV2's Headbangers Ball.

The first single was "Alchemy of the Black Sun Cult" and "A Haunting Curse" was a video. The video was directed as well as edited by David Brodsky. The single was first aired on MTV2's HeadBanger's Ball in the year 2006. The single "Alchemy of the Black Sun Cult" was also nominated for Best Video in the year 2006 on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball.

The former members of the band are Ben Stout as the guitarist, from the year 1997 till 2002, Zak Nolan as the drummer from the year1997 till 2004, Patrick Bruders as the bassist from the year 1997 till 2004, Tim Holsinger as the guitarist from the year 2002 till 2003. The current line-up- Sammy Duet - Guitar, Vocals since the day of its inception till date, Louis Benjamin Falgoust II - Vocals from the year 2000 till date, Zack Simmons - Drums from 2005 till date Nathan Bergeron as the bassist from the year 2005 till date.
