Byron Nelson Tickets For much of this tournament's history, the HP Byron Nelson Championship was the only PGA Tour stop named after a professional golfer. While remaining one of only two such events, along with the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Nelson has commonly made personal appearances during the tournament over the years. Played at the TPC Four Seasons Resort in Irving, Texas, the Byron Nelson Championship is one of two PGA tournaments held in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – the only metropolitan area to host two PGA tournament – and is traditionally the leading charity fundraiser on the PGA Tour, recently having surpassed the $100 million mark! For the tournament's first several decades, the Byron Nelson was played at a variety of Dallas courses, with Byron Nelson winning the inaugural event played at the Lakewood Country Club in 1944. In 1945 it was played at the Dallas Country Club, and then moved to the Brook Hollow Golf Club in 1946. From 1947 to 1955, the Byron Nelson did not take place, but in 1956 it was actually played twice, both at Preston Hollow Country Club. In 1957 the event moved to Glen Lake Country Club before beginning a ten year run at the Oak Cliff Country Club from 1958-67.

 In 1968 the event was renamed the Byron Nelson Golf Classic and its name, though linked with numerous different sponsors, has always included Nelson's name in some form or another. That very same year, the event was moved to Preston Trail Golf Club, where it was played from 1968 to 1982, while in 1983 the Championship moved to Irving, Texas – first at Las Colinas Sports Club from 1983 to 1985, then at the TPC at Las Colinas from 1986 to 1993. Since 1994 the Byron Nelson has been played at the tournament's current home, the Four Seasons. A few notable facts about the HP Byron Nelson Championship include Tiger Woods' record streak of 142 cuts made coming to an end at this tournament in 2005. Hewlett-Packard (HP) bought the previous title sponsor, Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in mid-2008, and in the first Byron Nelson Championship under HP sponsorship, Australian Adam Scott sank a 48-foot putt on the third playoff hole to seize the victory over American Ryan Moore.
