Wgc Ca Championships Tickets The World Golf Championships-CA Championship made its debut as part of the World Golf Championships series in 1999. The tournament was originally rotated from course to course each year, but beginning in 2007 it made its permanent home at the famed Blue Monster Course of Doral Country Club in Florida; replacing that venue's previous event, the Doral Open, on the PGA Tour schedule. The CA Championship is a limited-field event with entry determined mostly by money list ranking, but also by FedEx Cup points and World Ranking points.
Other than the CA Championship, the Blue Monster Course at Doral has played host to the PGA Tour for more than 40 years. In fact, virtually every great name in golf has had a moment of personal victory at this world-class venue. Originally designed by Dick Wilson, this course provides a competitive challenge for the world's best players; measuring 7,266 yards, both length and finesse are needed to score well on this historic course. The Blue Monster also features the famous 18th hole, a demanding par 4 that is consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Holes in the World.
The CA Championship is one of the four annual World Golf Championships tournaments for professional golfers. It is sanctioned and organized by the International Federation of PGA Tours and the prize money is recognized officially on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour. It was previously held each October, and known as the WGC-American Express Championship from 1999 to 2006, but now takes place in March, and is currently sponsored by CA Inc.

 The CA Championship is played over 72 holes in the stroke play format, and the starting field consists of approximately 70 eligible players, half the number found at most regular PGA Tour events. Because of the limited field there is no 36-hole cut. Most notably, Tiger Woods has defeated the world-class field at the CA Championship six out of the times it has been played.
