Artist Biography - Gorky Park

In 1987, 'Gorky Park' was established by five unemployed youths- Alexey Belov, Nikolay Noskov, Alexander Minkov, Jan Ianenkov and Alexander Lvov. While Belov and Ianenkov were the guitarists, Noskov was the lead vocalist. Minkov was for controlling the bass and Lvov was the only drummer. Stas Namin was the band's first manager. As the band did not find any grand success in Russia, it set out for the USA in search of a better option. After reaching the U.S., the band started the recording business there. On one occasion, after being noticed by Frank Zappa, the famous guitarist of the contemporary period, the band got the opportunity to perform in the theatre halls there. Apart from that, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora also helped the band to make an accord with 'Mercury Records', a famous recording company of the Unites States of America. In 1989, the band released their first debut album, 'Gorky Park'. It had a symbol of 'Hammer and Sickle' on its cover. As the album became a massive hit, its copies sold millions. 'Gorky Park' had a special feature-the members of 'Gorky Park' always dressed in conventional Russian style during their live-shows, while waving both the Soviet and the American flags. Hence, it became a symbol of friendship between America and Russia. The band's first video, 'Bang', received the 'MTV Rotation' award. Its next two singles, 'Try to Find Me' and 'Peace in Our Time', also received widespread success. The latter was a collaboration with Bon Jovi. In the same year,1989, the band took part in the 'Moscow Music Peace Festival' along with 'Bon Jovi', 'MÃÆ'¶tley CrÃÆ'¼e', 'Ozzy Osbourne' and 'Scorpions'. At that festival, it achieved huge success. In 1991, the band won 'Grammy' award for being the best new international band.
In 1993, 'Moscow Calling' was released by the band and became super hit. The band released their next two albums, 'Stare' and 'Protivofazza' consecutively in 1996 and 1998 . Both of them became massive hits. On September 12, 2007, 'Gorky Park' performed at the 'Bridge of Friendship' and 'Warmth festival' in Yerevan, Armenia. It is still regarded as one of the best performances of the band. Since the very beginning, the band has been soothing its fans by immortal songs like 'Bang', 'Try To Find Me', 'Hit Me With The News', 'Sometimes At Night', 'Peace In Our Time', 'My Generation', 'Within Your Eyes', 'Child Of The Wind', 'Fortress' 'Danger', 'Welcome to the Gorky Park', 'Two Candles', 'I'm Going Down', 'City of Pain', 'Don't Pull the Trigger' and 'Tell Me Why' etc. All of them turned out as super hits.
