Gucci Mane is the stage name of Birmingham-born and raised hip hop artist Radric Davis. The artist, born on February 12, 1980, came out Atlanta and lived a much harder lifestyle despite having the chance to complete a college education with a scholarship. He chose dealing drugs and running with dangerous parties instead of studious nights in his room. The man aspired to use his poetry and rapping to make himself a hip hop artist, and to his credit, he now makes a living selling Gucci Mane tickets and albums.
Davis, or Mane, has been at odds with the law often in his life. He sold crack cocaine and was involved in a fire fight that ended with a few dead bodies. Despite all this trouble, he has been able to find time to become a successful hip hop star, beginning in 2007 with Back to the Trap House.
The album charted in the Top 20 in the U.S. R&B and Rap charts. Gucci Mane may not have any gold or platinum records to his name, but he has been busy producing albums and being featured on other artists tracks. He can be heard on remixes of Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow", Mariah Carey's "Obsessed", and Yo Gotti's "5 Star Chick".
