Artist Biography - Gwinnett Philharmonic

For commemoration of the tenth anniversary a concert called 10th Anniversary Celebration Concert was presented by the orchestra. The concert was performed with music of Gershwin, Rossini, "All the Best of Broadway!", Bernstein and Bach.
The Gwinnett Philharmonic has become successful with Monte Nichols the main force behind it. For the further growth of Gwinnett Philharmonic, Nichols says "In the next 10 years, we hope to grow in several ways. We hope to build the audience, helping more people of all ages to discover the thrill of hearing a ‘live' symphony orchestra for the first time. We also want to build the base of support such as growing a permanent endowment. We also want to build on the success of the orchestra itself – continuing to attract wonderful musicians and programming Great Music."
Gwinnett Philharmonic have been organizing concerts having full orchestra . These are called "The Gwinnett Philharmonic Plays Series. ". "The Gwinnett Philharmonic Plays Series" were very successful. Seeing their rising popularity in 2003 its second season was launched. "The Gwinnett Philharmonic Presents Series" featured concerts by groups having less number of musicians and by soloists as well. On 16th May 2005 Gwinnett Philharmonic ended their season of 2005 with this kind of concert. The concert was played by Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta.
Although the musician of Gwinnett Philharmonic are payed but it is also concerned about the other groups that are dependent on volunteers. Nichols said " When we started, the feeling was we did not want to compete with DeKalb Symphony, Cobb Symphony. We don't want to water down the ranks of volunteer musicians."
The musicians of Philharmonic perform with other groups as well like Atlanta Ballet or Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Symphony.
Trumpet player Kevin Lyons who has been associated with Gwinnett Philharmonic for five years also performs with Atlanta Ballet and Opera and finds it equally satisfying in terms of professional level.
