Hole is the band that comes to mind when most think of Courtney Love as a musician. The widow of Kurt Cobain has been in the group, selling Hole tickets to sold out concerts since the group formed in 1989. The alternative rock group has survived a seven year break up and come back in 2009 to rekindle music memories and remind people Courtney Love is a respected rock star in her own right.
The group formed in Los Angeles after Love put out an advertisement in the newspaper. Eric Erlandson joined to play lead guitar, Lisa Roberts joined as the bassist, Caroline Rue joined as the drummer, and Mike Geisbrecht joined as an additional guitarist. The group has gone through countless lineup changes, with just one four stretch from 1994-98 maintaining the same four group members.
The 2009, or reunion, edition of Hole features Love as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Micko Larkin as the lead guitarist, Shawn Dailey as the bassist, and Stu Fisher as the drummer. This is not a true reunion since Love is the only returning member, but the group released Nobody's Daughter in 2010, Hole's first album in 12 years.
