Howard Jones
Howard Jones was an English Singer who was one of the defining figures of 80's. Howard was born in Southampton, England. He learned to play piano when he was seven and by the time he was a teenager, his family moved to Canada. He began taking his first steps towards a music career. He joined his first band called the Warrior. He finally moved to England where he was part of many groups. He later enrolled in the the Royal Northern College of Music. But he dropped out son and played with local Southampton jazz and funk bands.
He then turned into a solo performer and while performing he caught the attention of John Peel. That was a small breakthrough for Jones. Peel offered him a session with the BBC. As he came to be recognized, he started opening for a few synth-pop acts across England. Jones finally signed a record deal in 1983 with WEA in England and Europe and with Elektra in America. He released his first single, "New Song," in England in 1983 and it became an instant hit and hit number three on the British charts. His second single"What Is Love," was released a few months later and it reached number two.

The debut album of Howard "Humans Lib," was released in 1984 and reached number one in England. It has a respectable run in the US thanks to repeated exposure on MTV. In 1985, Jones released his second album in 1985 titled "Dream into Action." The record is also his most successful. It reached number 11 and went platinum in the U.S. Jones's next album "No One Is to Blame" became his biggest U.S. Hit and peaked at number four. The album did not fare as well in the UK but was still successful. Jones released his fourth album, "Cross That Line," in 1989.
His next offering, "Everlasting Love," reached only number 65 on the charts. His first single from the album became a number one adult contemporary hit in America. Jones made a comeback with his net album "In the Running." Unfortunately the album was a non mover. Seeing that he as not selling records, his label Elecktra dropped him. He started touring the next few years and even sold his self recorded album at his 1994 shows. He also setup his own label Dtox Records. He released more album sin the coming years namely, "Live Acoustic America" on PLM Records in 1996 and "People" in 1998.
