Born Tracy "Ice-T" Marrow, is an American rapper, rock musician, author, and actor. Marrow's stage name Ice-T was actually his street moniker. With his 2006 release of his latest album "Gangsta Rap", Marrow habitually refers to himself as "Iceberg" throughout rather than his historical name "Ice T".Ice T was born on February 16, 1958. One of West Coast rap's starring personalities, Ice T was actually born in Newark, New Jersey. His music is both politically mindful, same as that of Public Enemy, and nihilistic like that of N.W.A. Marrow Did his schooling from Crenshaw High School, where he developed his obsession with rap, often creating rhymes for classmates. Marrow joined the U.S. Army after leaving high school. He has stated he did not enjoy the experience, explaining, "I didn't like total submission to a leader other than myself."

Ice T left the Army and began his exceedingly long career of recording raps for various studios on 12". which were compiled on "The Classic Collection" and also featured on disc 2 of "Legends of Hip-Hop" later. He released his first rap "The Coldest Rap" in 1982 which became his first hip hop record to use the words "nigga" and "ho,". This can be heard as the beginning of Gangsta Rap. Eventually, Ice T signed a deal with a major label, Sire Records, and soon after releasing his debut album "Rhyme Pays" in 1987, he contributed vocal arrangements for Mr. T's motivational children's video "Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool." His debut "Rhyme Pays" became a certified gold for its great music and magical beats with wonderful lyrics. In 1987 only, he recorded the theme song for Dennis Hopper's Colors, which was stronger, both lyrically and musically, with more discriminating lyrics, than anything he had previously recorded. In 1988, Ice T founded his own record label, Rhyme Syndicate and released Power. This record earned him rave reviews and his second gold record. "The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say", released in 1989, further planted him as a typical hip-hop superstar by matching superior abrasive music with furious, clever narratives, and political commentaries, especially about hip-hop censorship.
Ice T is though to be the first rapper to have ever performed the notorious Crip Walk up on stage, in front of cameras sometime in the '80s which further enhanced his controversial fame and gave rise to the C-Walks mainstream in other videos through WC, Snoop Dogg, Warren G, and other Crip-turned-rapper artists. He has released 4 other rap albums since his classic album O.G. in 1991 which introduced to his metal band. His first rap album since 1999, Gangsta Rap, has entered the shelves in October 2006 creating controversy over its cover. On asking about his acting career, Ice T says, "I got into acting kinda funny. I was in a club with some girl models when Mario Van Peebles walked over to me. He said 'I want you to be in a movie' and I was thinking, 'yeah right, you just wanna get down [with the girls]' The next day, I got a phone call from him and he told me to come and read for a movie called New Jack City. So I went over there and they told me I was gonna wear dreads and play a cop. I was like 'do I gotta own slaves too?'. I was really scared of doing a movie because it was my first test of branching off. I didn't want to fuck up my rep with no wack movie, but everybody I talked to told me to do it, even though I was playing a cop. After I did it, I got mad love and it gave me confidence. That's when I really knew that people will always judge you for what you do, but as long as you do it well, ain't nobody's gonna be mad at you. I've never read for a movie, I've always been given them. I worked with Denzel Washington on Ricochet, Ice Cube on Trespass, I did Surviving The Game, Johnny Mnemonic, and Tank Girl. I had a reason for every movie I did, especially Tank Girl because I'm into horror. I was a big kangaroo in that movie. It's funny because I was on this one interview show with a hardcore Hip Hop muthafucka who was dissin' because of my role in Tank Girl. Then I told him I made $800,000 and all he could say was 'Damn! Next question...' ...For that kind of money, I'd play a piece of shit!"
