Ill Niño is a Latino six-piece nu-metal music group from New Jersey in the United States with line up of Cristian Machado as lead Vocals, Jardel Martins Paisante on Guitar, Ahrue Luster on Guitar, Lazaro Pina on Bass, Dave Chavarri on Drums and Daniel Couto on Percussion. The band was founded in late 1999 with an original name El Niño derived from tropical storm. They striked a deal with Roadrunner Records in 2000, but were forced to change the name of the band because this name was already acquired by some other band.
III Nino debuted with "Revolution Revolución" on September 18, 2001. The band shared the stage with the Ozzfest and Jägermeister while being on tours in 2002. On Oct 8, 2003, the band released its sophomore effort entitled "Confession". The album's lead single, "How Can I Live", was featured on the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack, and was subsequently their first single to peak the Billboard charts at #26 on the Mainstream Rock charts. The album has proved to be the most successful album to date, selling 200,000 copies in the US and 400,000 worldwide.
III Nino came up with their third effort titled "One Nation Underground" on September 27, 2005. The album has sold roughly 130,000 copies worldwide. On June 15, 2006, it was declared that Ill Niño had separated from Roadrunner Records. Nine days later their departure from earlier record, they had signed a new deal with Cement Shoes Records. According to Ill Niño's official website, they stated that their split from Roadrunner was "amicable" but felt that they "weren't getting the proper attention and support from Roadrunner that we had gotten on the past 2 releases".
